Suainebhal

Whilst relatively short, I enjoyed the steep climb up to the summit of Suainbhal where I was battered by a ferocious wind and a passing rain storm.

Suainebhal is the most northerly of the Uig hills and 428 metres high, it is quite a steep climb. Here’s the map of the walk and one of the photographs taken on the way up. The wind was incredibly strong which made the walk that much harder.

The views from the top made the climb worthwhile and take in Uig Bay, including Ardroil Beach, and across to Kneep where I was staying in the motorhome when I did this walk. I was almost blown off the top when I reached the trig point but managed to take a few pictures before the rain came in.

The weather improved as I made the descent and, having reached the loch, near which I’d parked, I was able to make some nice images showing the beauty of area and the lovely way in which the light plays across the Lewisian Gneiss.
